YouthCARE

We partner with YouthCARE to support local school chaplaincy through Sprouts - a mentoring and gardening program that builds trust, provides encouragement, and creates a safe space for kids to grow. Run by volunteers from our church, Sprouts is a practical way we share Jesus’ love in our local schools.

The Story.

Sprouts began in 2021 with a simple but meaningful vision: to provide positive role models for local kids and create a space where they feel safe, heard, and cared for. Instigated by the YouthCARE chaplain at Hillman Primary School, Sprouts brings together gardening, mentoring, and meaningful conversation.

Every week, volunteers from our church community come alongside students to plant, grow, and nurture—not just in the garden, but in life. We share laughs, listen to struggles, and offer encouragement through every season. It’s all done in the name of Jesus, with a prayer that each child might see how Jesus shapes lives and what He offers.

In the garden beds, we see more than vegetables grow—we see confidence, trust, and resilience flourish. We talk about the highs and lows of life, support families doing it tough, and sometimes bump into students again in high school. The school regards Sprouts as an integral part of their pastoral care, recognising the lasting impact of consistent presence and care.

Beyond Sprouts, we’re also deeply involved in YouthCARE chaplaincy more broadly—resourcing, mentoring, and praying for local chaplains, many of whom call Warnbro home. We offer encouragement, and leadership support—believing that Jesus is at work in every classroom, conversation, and connection. And with growing opportunities to step into other local primary and high schools through mentoring and Everyday Matters, we’re excited for what’s ahead.
