FABBQ
Community BBQ

Friends of Warnbro partners with FABBQ (Friends at the Beach BBQ) to serve those experiencing homelessness in our community. Every third Wednesday, we provide meals, conversation, music, and care—sharing the love of Jesus in practical ways. It’s more than a meal; it’s a chance to bring hope and connection.

The Story.

At Warnbro, we believe church is More Than a Sunday—it’s a way of life, a mission in action every day. One powerful example of this is Friends of Warnbro at FABBQ (Friends at the Beach BBQ), a ministry that began 12 years ago when Ralph and Jen Braam felt called to serve the marginalised in our community.

Originally planning to serve overseas, Ralph’s need for a kidney transplant meant they couldn’t travel to developing countries as planned. But God had other plans. Ralph and Jen turned their focus to local missions, joining with FABBQ to serve those living without homes—many in cars, tents, or the sand dunes.

Every third Wednesday of the month, The Friends provide meals, share stories, and listen to those who come to FABBQ. But their calling goes beyond just filling bellies.

Through one-to-one conversations, songs, and personal stories of God’s work in their lives, they share the hope of Jesus with each person they meet. It’s about offering not just physical nourishment, but spiritual hope.

If you’ve ever wondered how you can be part of something bigger, this is it. We’re looking for more people to join the Wednesday night team or support us in prayer as we serve intentionally, showing Christ’s love in action.

Matthew 25:40 reminds us, “Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.”

Together, we can make Jesus known by being intentional with everything we do and have.
